Interview: Michael Martinez

1.What made you decide to come to Rutgers?

I came to Rutgers because of how large of a school it is. I saw this as a “land of opportunity,” and it really has proven to be just that.

2. What has your Rutgers experience been like so far (extra curriculars, favorite classes, etc.)?

My Rutgers experience has been quite the rollercoaster ride. I have learned so much and began to develop into the person I am today. I loved being a part of RUPA, Scarlet PR, and Mu Beta Psi.

3. What made you choose your instrument?

I chose guitar because I wanted to learn how to play songs from the band “There for Tomorrow”. I keep playing now because I love to write my own songs and to keep developing my skills as a guitarist.

4. What made you decide to join Mu Beta Psi?

I joined Mu Beta Psi because I saw that the organization will not only advance my role in community service, but has helped me find a group of people I can truly call friends.

5. What has being in Mu Beta Psi been like for you?

Being in Mu Beta Psi has been a great experience. I’ve gotten to connect with great people and to give back to the community.

6. Do you have a favorite memory in Mu Beta Psi?

My favorite memory would have to be Convention 2019! It was great getting to know other Brothers from other chapters.

7. What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to workout and write songs.

8. Do you have any advice for anyone interested in joining Mu Beta Psi or looking to get more involved?

I would say to give MBPsi a shot! We are an easy going and fun set of people. Keep an open-mind, and there are always people who will be there to be supportive.
